    If you or your loved one wear a pendant help button please be advised of the following:

    Since June 2011, all Lifeline neck cord style personal help buttons have been designed with a breakaway safety feature. The breakaway neck cord is designed to break open under certain conditions in order to reduce the remote possibility of a choking hazard. Since 2011, Lifeline has taken pro-active measures to replace the non-breakaway neck cords with the new break-away model, and we continue to do so for any remaining non-breakaway neck-cords that we encounter in our service activity.

    All of Lifeline’s subscribers should now be using the current breakaway model of the pendant style personal help button. The image below shows the breakaway mechanism on the breakaway neck cord.

    If you have the breakaway model of neck cord, please do not attempt to test the breakaway mechanism yourself. If you pull the breakaway cord apart, it cannot be put back together and will need to be replaced. If the cord has been pulled apart, please do not attempt to knot or tie your neck cord back together, but instead contact our Customer Care Department to obtain a replacement breakaway neck cord by calling 1-800-387-1215. In addition, you should never tie a knot in the cord (including knots to bypass the breakaway fuse) as this may compromise the breakaway safety feature and potentially impact wearer safety.

    If you are still using the older non-breakaway model of neck cord, please contact our Customer Care Department at 1-800-387-1215 and we will replace your neck cord with the current break-away model at no cost.

    Wristband Option

    Lifeline also offers its subscribers the option using a wristband style personal help buttons as an alternative to neck cords. For more information on the wristband style option, please contact our Customer Care Department at 1-800-387-1215.
