Get the most out of Lifeline by adding AutoAlert Fall Detection

Getting help quickly helps prevent further injury

Being down for more than 2 hours can increase the risk of medical problems that could be prevented by getting help quickly. A previous fall is one of the strongest predictors for recurring falls. Delayed intervention or prolonged lie times after a fall may result in secondary, serious complications that very likely require hospitalization and could be avoided by having quick access to help. HomeSafe with AutoAlert service can speed intervention and mitigate complications resulting from a fall.

AutoAlert is the most widely adopted automatic fall detection in Canada. Its superior technology is designed to automatically detect most falls – and achieve a low rate of false alarms – by distinguishing between actual falls and everyday activities like sitting, standing and reclining. It even gives you 30 seconds to cancel an alarm, or you can cancel by starting to stand back up.

One half of older adults cannot get up from a fall without help

In a study of Lifeline users, we found that seniors can’t or don’t push the button in up to 30% of serious fall emergencies. Without fall detection, senior falls can go undetected for hours, even days without receiving emergency medical attention. Philips Lifeline can help connect you to the assistance you request, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved My Mom My mother fell in the middle of the night & had 28 fractures. She was screaming for me and I could not hear her - I was in upstairs and she was downstairs. She pushed the lifeline button and called for the fire department. By the time I woke up the fire department & paramedics were coming through the back door to take her to the hospital. If it wasn't for lifeline - she would have been laying on the floor for at least another 2 hours. Her fall was at 3:00am & I didn't get up until 6:00am to prepare her breakfast. Would highly recommend to anyone even living in large house and with a spouse who can't hear very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works !! My mother is 84 years old. She has not had the need for the help thank God. On a couple of occasions she dropped the medical alert pendant to the floor by accident and this medical alert box boomed with a very loud voice asking if my mother was alright. She was actually in her bedroom and the box is near the kitchen and she was still able to hear the box and the representative was able to hear her. I am quite impressed. The only problem has been to get my mother to keep her medical alert pendant consistently in the same accessible place next to her bed so that she can put it on as she gets out of bed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This system brought ease of mind to my family. We had this system for about 6 to 9 months while we struggled to keep our step-father in the home with our mother who had Alzheimer's.  My step-father used a walker and had balance problems.  Because my Mom had Alzheimer's we could not depend on her to call for help if he were to fall.  We contacted your company and installed the Phillip's Lifeline!  What a relief to know that someone was "there" to call for help if he were to fall.  We had several false alarms along with two falls that detected immediately and helped was summoned.  We cancelled the service when my step-father's congestive heart failure got to the point where he needed to be placed in a nursing care center BUT your product and service allowed us to keep them at home longer!!!  Thank you!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Device `I purchased the HomeSafe w/AutoAlert for my 85 year old Mother. It was an excellent tool that allowed her to continue living in her home while giving us the peace of mind in knowing that she was being monitored for falls. She sometimes pushed the button by mistake, but the operators were always very nice and made her feel like she was talking to a friend. She did have a couple of falls and the AutoAlert was activated...they contacted her immediately for a status update and then called me and my brother to let us know what had happened. I would recommend this device to was a lifesaver for our Mother.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piece of Mind I got Lifeline for my mom last year . Because of severe spinal stenosis my mom was a huge fall risk . Getting Lifeline was the best decision I have made in a long time., . Having Lifeline not only makes my mom feel more safe and secure in her home, but also gives me piece of mind knowing if she was to fall or needed help immediatly she simply presses a button . Though I live five minutes away Lifeline has been a lifesaver . The call center is always so helpful and polite. If you are taking care of an elderly parent getting Lifeline is one the best decisions you can make for yourself and your parent .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From a Firefighter's Perspective: GREAT SERVICE!!! I'm a firefighter and respond to several calls a month from Lifeline. These systems are great and truly life saving. I've responded to houses where patients have been on the ground for days and haven't had a way to call for help, resulting in a lengthy stay in the hospital. Not only will the call people contact 911 for you, but they will stay on the line and talk to you and when we get there they will even give us your medical information (if you elect to do so). After responding to several calls, I even got my Grandfather one for his home so that he can still maintain his independence, and still be safe at home. Don't worry about pushing that button for any reason; firefighters don't mind helping someone who's on the ground no matter what the hour. If you want to maintain your independence, but still be safe I would HIGHLY recommend this service!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Many Features, Backed by Phillips My husband has a seizure disorder, and when he seizes, he usually needs medical attention right away.  We had been lucky in that my son or I were around when he had seizures.  However, we can't always be with him, and I worried about what would happen if he fell and couldn't call for help. I work in a hospital, and have seen folks who have fallen sustain crush injuries from not being able to move.  This can cause them to develop rhabdomyolisis, which can cause many complications, including acute kidney injury (kidney failure).  Usually, this means the person must give up their independence and enter a care facility.  No matter what, their quality of life is reduced.  I didn't want my husband to experience this if he was injured in a fall. The Lifeline enables my husband to get help right away from EMS if he falls and can't answer the phone, or if I am unavailable to answer when they call.  Additionally, since he can answer the phone by pressing his pendant button, I can reach him by phone, which gives me peace of mind when I am away and call to check in.  This also means he doesn't have to rush to the phone and risk falling. I am so glad this product is available.  It enables my husband to preserve his independence, and me my peace of mind!

Undetectable falls can include a gradual slide from a seated position, such as from a wheelchair, which may not register as a fall.
