Medical Alert System with GPS and Fall Detection

The GoSafe medical alert system combines Philips AutoAlert Fall Detection technology and GPS, WiFi and other locating technologies to provide you with the confidence you need to live an independent life on your own terms. No matter where you are you will still have access to 24/7 help should you experience a fall or need medical assistance.5 Living a life of independence shouldn’t be restricted to the home environment, you should feel comfortable going for a walk or even taking a vacation.8

The easy-to-use GoSafe system will allow you to continue to live life to the fullest. It provides Two-Way Voice Communication directly from the pendant, AutoAlert fall detection that will call for help from anywhere when you can’t, the ability to call multiple contacts, and around the clock access to Lifeline’s response centre associates.

Once a fall is detected, or you have pressed your Mobile Help Button, a trained Lifeline Response Associate will quickly assess your profile and your situation. Based on your needs at that moment, the Associate will call either a neighbour, family member or emergency service. So, whether you are in the comfort of your own home, picking up the mail, or enjoying dinner out with friends, you will always feel safe and secure.


Philips Lifeline offers dependable, convenient, and purpose-built technology, assembled and tested by Lifeline. What does that mean to you? Just like how in the event of an emergency, you can get help quickly, we’re also available to monitor our equipment. It’s self-checking and notifies the Response Centre if it detects a power failure or low battery.

Personal Help Button

Wear the GoSafe Help Button around your neck as an adjustable pendant both inside and outside the home for access to help when you need it! The GoSafe Help Button is designed to automatically place a call for help if a fall is detected and you are unable to push your Help Button.2 AutoAlert is the most widely adopted fall detection technology in the Canadian medical alert market today. It detects greater than 95% of falls.6

Response Centre

Lifeline subscribers have 24/7 access to our fully-owned Canadian based Response Centre. Our Associates are meticulously trained to professionally, courteously and sensitively serve you. Unlike some other companies, we do NOT outsource this privilege and responsibility. When you sign up for service, you share with Lifeline the contact information of the people you would like to help you in the event of a medical event or other emergency. Press your Help Button and our Response Associates access your profile, and contact the people you’ve identified, and emergency personnel as appropriate, to get you the help you want.

How GoSafe Mobile Medical Alert Service Works


1. Summon help

Press your Mobile Help Button at any time. If you fall and can’t push your button – the AutoAlert feature can automatically call for help if it detects a fall—at home or on the go.2

2. Hear a reassuring voice

A caring Philips Lifeline response associate will quickly access your personal profile and assess the situation.

3. Get located

Lifeline pinpoints your location through the communicator or your mobile pendant. GoSafe uses up to six advanced technologies to determine where you are. 3

4. Know help is on the way

Our response associate contacts a neighbour, loved one, or emergency services – based on your preferences – and will follow up to make sure help has arrived.

Our GoSafe system is packed with a variety of locating technologies to help locate you in an emergency, including:

  1. Two-Way Voice: The pendant has a built-in speaker and microphone so you can talk with our Response Centre or Emergency Services hands-free, directly through the pendant, and provide location information.
  2. Global Positioning System (GPS): Satellite navigation technology can locate you whenever there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.
  3. Intelligent Tracking: When you move, this technology uses the path you take to leave a trail. This path can then be accessed by our Response Centre in the event that your last-known location is helpful.
  4. WiFi: This technology utilizes a growing database of WiFi hotspots to locate you, particularly if you’re indoors.
  5. Audio Beacon: Feel confident even in remote areas. The Mobile Help Button comes with an alarm that can be activated by our call centre so audible “you’re getting closer!” information can be heard by first responders.
  6. At Home: If you are within range of your home Communicator, we’ll know that you are either at home or very close to home.

Who needs GoSafe Medical Alert Service

In a fall or medical emergency, every second counts. You don’t want anything to get in the way of your independence. Not an accidental fall. Not a medical condition or emergency. GoSafe Mobile Medical Alert System is recommended for people who:

  • Socialize outside your home frequently

  • Hook up the equipment to ensure your Lifeline is set up properly so you are highly satisfied with our service from the start.
  • Explain the service, answer your questions and show you how easy it is to use.
  • Conduct three service tests so you have peace of mind knowing it’s working when you need it most:
    1. A button range test in and around your home to know where your button will work from.
    2. A voice range test to know under normal circumstances where your voice can be heard throughout your home for communicating over the speakerphone with the Response Centre.
    3. A test call to our 24 hour Response Centre.
  • Go through the paperwork with you to set up the billing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my GoSafe system I upgraded to GoSafe from home based LifeLine and am really happy with it. It was easy to set up and since I read the instructions, knew to put it in sleep mode before boarding a plane. When I arrived at my destination I got it out of sleep mode. I did a test call and it worked fine. When I first got it I put the pendant in a locker at the Y before a aqua exercise class in the pool. When EMT folks came I realized that the system has registered a fall and my cell phone was in the car and contact folks not available. The system found where I was and worked. It was a false alarm and now I keep my pendant close by attached to my walker when I am in the pool.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pendant Too Heavy I am a very new customer, but can tell immediately that the call button pendant is going to be too heavy to be worn comfortable, so it will probably end up being kept in a pocket. Need to develop a lighterweight pendant or a wrist call button.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GoSafe is a lifesaver! Our son, Garrett, 21, wears the Philips Lifeline GoSafe medical alert device because he is a fall risk from Epileptic seizures. It doesn't matter how old you are, this device can save your life by calling for help especially when you can't. We are so glad to see this message changing to include people of all ages and all conditions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not enough information I have the GoSafe for several months now and I am not that happy with it. The idea is fantastic but the actuality machine is frustrating. It is too sensitive when you try to sleep, I never knew that there was a sleep mode and I never knew that traveling (900 miles) that the base causes an alert to charge the pendant more often. I spoke to an "agent" who told me that there was a sleep (airplane) mode so I could clean it in order to prevent the alarm from going off and get aboard on a plane. While sleeping with it on, it is very easy to go off if you turn over in your sleep. I traveled without the main box because I was traveling a distance to my mother's house, who also has a GoSafe also. I figured that I could charge it there using her charging cord. I found out the hard way that it had to be charged everyday, all because I was far away from my main box. So if I knew that, thanks to lack of information, I would brought my box and use the sleep mode without calling about it. In the manual it says to charge it one a week and nothing about a limit of distance which causes the power to drop. You have to find out during your experience in wearing it. The instruction manual needs to be rewritten especially now that summer is coming. People may be traveling and not knowing that it is best to carry the box with you. Also if you are traveling by plane there is a airplane (sleep) mode which is not in the manual also. If any questions call them 24/7 and if they can't help you, call Mon-Fri business hours for help.

The pendant uses the cell phone system and with the GPS can detect my location. Response time is much faster than the previous company that I used and cancelled their service, since I was left on hold after a long wait time for a response. Again, very pleased with the Gosafe.

Because we don't live near her and she wishes to live independently in the state where she's resided for the past 20 years, this technology has enabled us to support her goals. The peace of mind this provides us is immeasurable.
