“The wireless service is perfect for someone like me who has a chronic illness. It lets me stay independent safely and it’s so wonderful not to have to worry about how I would get help if I have another unnoticed seizure.”

I was concerned about discharging an elderly patient because she was quite frail. I recommended a medical alert service and she finally agreed. Soon after, I learned she had fallen down some stairs, struck her head and lost consciousness. Fortunately, she was able to press her Help Button. An ambulance arrived quickly and she avoided further injury. This is such a simple apparatus but it changes the outcome of otherwise catastrophic events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to push my help button in my garden and still get help if I am using the HomeSafe landline system with fall detection?

The range of our HomeSafe system with a landline communicator is roughly a 350-foot radius. A range test is part of our installation process, so you know where inside and around the home your help button will work from. If you cannot speak or our Response Associate cannot hear you, we will still contact your responders or emergency services as per the instructions in your CarePlan.

If the fall is detected, who do we contact first?

If the subscriber is responsive, we will speak to them through the 2-way speaker on the device and call their responders or emergency services as needed. If the subscriber is unresponsive, then we will try calling over the phone. If there is no answer on the phone, we will follow the protocol requested in the CarePlan. For some this may be to call emergency services first. For others, they may prefer to have their responders called instead.

Is the pendant waterproof?

The pendant is water-resistant and can be worn in the shower but is not designed to be submerged.

Does the system require a phone line?

A working landline is required with the HomeSafe Standard with Landline service.

If you are using the HomeSafe Standard with Cellular Service, a landline is not necessary because it requires a connection to a third-party cellular network.

What happens if I accidentally trigger a fall detection alert?

If you accidentally press your HomeSafe with Fall Detection button or it automatically triggers an alarm, just let the Lifeline Personal Response Associate know that it was a false alarm.

Will the system work during a power outage?

The system is designed to provide up to 30 hours of backup battery during a power outage.

Can the device be used in another home or location?

It can. Just call us in advance of moving the device to another location. Then we can add the address and other pertinent details to your CarePlan, in case you need to get help at the new location. Always test the device from the new location to ensure it has been set-up properly.

Can multiple people in the same household use the system?

Yes, up to eight (8) HomeSafe Fall Detection pendants can be added per household.

1. HomeSafe with Fall Detection help buttons are water resistant and can be worn in the shower. Button signal range may vary due to differing environmental factors.

2. Lifeline’s fall detection technology does not detect 100% of falls. Always press your Help button if you are able, as some falls may not be detectable.
